- Sign in to your portal as an administrator
- Navigate to System Settings (1) > Security tab (2) > Temporarily Suspend Accounts (3)
- Select 'Yes' to temporarily lock a user account after a specified number of failed login attempts.
The extra options for this functionality allow you to adjust your preferences: Failed Attempts (4) and Suspension Duration (5). In the example below, after [3] failed attempts, the suspend duration is set for [1] minute. - The first drop-down (4) allows you to specify the number of failed login attempts that trigger a suspension. In our example, it is set to 3.
The second field (5) lets you set the duration for the suspension. Here, it’s set to 1 minute, meaning the account will be locked for 1 minute after 3 failed attempts.
Increment the Suspension Duration (6): If this option is checked, the system will increase the suspension duration incrementally for each subsequent series of failed login attempts, following a mathematical sequence. - Click Save (7) to save your preferences.
When a user has more than 3 failed attempts to log in, the following error message (8) is presented to the user
